Green Thumb Sunday Blogroll

In Greek mythology, anemone (ranunculaceae) grew from the blood of Aprodite's dead lover, Adonis. They are named windflowers because the wind that blows open the petals of the flower also will later blow away the dead petals. Here is an anemone in a shady spot in my backyard which I think is an anemone hybrida or japonica.

That is so pretty! Looks very fragile, I bet it 'lights up' the shady spot in your yard.

My GTS is shared, hope you can stop by.

So pretty. Love reading the meaning of the plant names. Happy GTS,

Thanks Percy & Good Acres for Faving my Garden Blog. You have a romantic touch with the camera methinks. The Japanese Anemone is a poignant match with myth you wrote about. It looks frail and bold at the same time. Also the hummingbird shots are magical.

Is Percy really as imperious a character you captured in the photo?

Cheers to you Percy and your Lawyer-gardener-photographer companion

Hi there, great shot of the anemone :-)

I love to see these flowers in my Scottish garden later on in the year. They are one of my favourite plants in the garden :-D
